Kindi's Story...
Kindi and Mara are sisters. They were abandoned in a field, along with two siblings back in February. It was very cold that day but thank goodness a nice man found the babies just in time and took them home. The nice man and his wife found a rescue to take the babies (that's us) but before we got them, they were so lucky to find homes for two of them. Kindi is the taller of the two girls. Both are playful and love to have fun. They do not need to be adopted together. We think that they are about 12 weeks old this first week of April. Both are spayed, up to date on all shots, on heartworm/flea preventative and microchipped. Their adoption fee is $300 each. Again, they do NOT need to be adopted together.

About Our Rescue Group...
In August, 2006, we branched off from a long association with Chihuahua Rescue and Transport in order to have a more local focus. You may have noticed that we have also branched off from rescuing only chihuahuas. As we were doing shelter pulls, it became harder and harder to pull chihuahuas for rescue and leave behind other small breed dogs that we knew were highly adoptable. So we started taking them also. Chihuahuas are first in our hearts but we have been very successful in finding wonderful homes for doxies, miniature pinschers and various terriers. If we have the means, the desire and the drive to rescue them as well, how could we not? I guess we should start calling ourselves River City Canine Rescue.

River City Chihuahua Rescue is a non-profit organization in the state of Missouri with 501(c)3 status granted by the IRS. We have no paid employees. We are a local, internet-based organization dedicated to the rescue, medical care and adoption of stray and homeless small breed dogs in need. We help control the growing overpopulation by spaying and neutering all dogs in our care. We provide all necessary veterinary treatment and place them in foster homes until they are adopted into forever homes. Whenever possible, RCCR also raises public awareness regarding the abuse and neglect of small breed dogs as well as overpopulation caused by not spaying and neutering.

Come Meet Our Pets...

UPDATE:

RCCR is taking a little break - probably for the rest of the year because our beloved director (that's me) will be leaving Missouri for work. There will probably still be some dogs on our site and rest assured, if they are there, they are available and arrangements can be made for you to meet any of them. Just know that River City Rescue isn't going away, we're just taking a short hiatus. We'll be back and we can't wait for that day to come. Remember that we have a Facebook group page and we love, love, love updates! Thanks to the internet, we can all stay in touch so easily. Thank you for supporting our mission. See you in 2014!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kindi, a House Springs Dachshund/Chihuahua puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in House Springs, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua puppy from a breeder in House Springs.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in House Springs already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a House Springs breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in House Springs paves the way for another one to be saved.
