Facts about Phoebe

  • Breed: St. Bernard
  • Color: White - With Brown Or Chocolate
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Phoebe is 10 yrs old and was on the streets of Detroit, over bred and abused. We believe she was also poisoned as she has some organ damage and because of that occasionally has pee pee accidents while shes sleeping etc. Shes been with us about 2yrs now. Shes also prone to bladder infections as well. Because of this she requires frequent vet visits. Her foster mom keeps her in tiled areas and has a mop on hand but says her accidents are about once a week or so. She is terrified to be left outside alone for long and also afraid of thunder and fireworks so cannot be an outside dog. She can jump a 4ft fence and will if she sees a squirrel . We fixed her and all that but feel that she may be with us forever which is fine we love her. If you'd like to ask about her call 586 690 2808 or to donate to her care please call or stop in rakestraw vet on Vandyke in Detroit and put money on the mutts of motown acct.

About Mutts of Motown

About Our Rescue Group...

Mutts of Motown is a very small Detroit based rescue. Our goal is to save dogs and some cats who are in danger, abused, abandoned or neglected. Because we are so small and due to lack of funding and foster homes, we work with many 501 c-3 non profit groups who often take in many of our Detroit rescues. Sometimes we provide care, spays, neuters, straw, dog houses and even dog food to those who need it and cannot afford it, or refuse to provide it for their pets. Because of the great numbers of animals being killed in our shelters nationwide we urge you to fix your pets and urge your government officials to change laws about backyard and basement breeding as well as passing spay and neuter laws nationwide. We believe with these laws in place shelters wouldn't be needed in a few years. California has some of these laws in place now. We should follow this example and stop allowing our tax dollars to go towards the killing of unwanted animals.

Donate to Our Rescue Group...

All monetary donations must go to our Vet - Rakestraw Animal Hospital (20241 Van Dyke St, Detroit MI 48234 (313) 366-8853)) to the Mutts of Motown Rescue account. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT OUR VET FOR ANY REASON OTHER THAN TO DONATE TO OUR ACCOUNT. THEY ARE NOT INVOLVED IN OUR RESCUE'S BUSINESS AND ARE VERY KIND TO OUR RESCUE DOGS. For other types of donations like food, supplies, etc. please call us at 586 690 2808 to leave us a message and arrange a pick-up.

Our Adoption Process...

Please click on the pet you're interested in and read his/her profile and requirements prior to calling us for a phone consult. If the pet's profile states no children, a fenced yard, etc. these are requirements, not suggestions. All requirements will be verified during application screening and at the time of the required home visit. Please be patient when waiting for a call back as we're all volunteers. The number to call can be found in each pet's profile. Regrettably, we cannot do rescue business via text, facebook or email, so a volunteer who knows the dog in question will return your call at their earliest convenience. All of our dogs are fully and thoroughly evaluated in foster homes prior to being available for adoption. WOOF!
