My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucky (male) 11 YEAR OLD SCHNAUZER MIX – 35 POUNDS – NEUTERED – HOUSETRAINED – HUSBAND IN HOSPICE, WIFE UNABLE TO CARE FOR BOTH – PLEASE HELP!

CONTACT: 318-344-0793

I am a 11 year old neutered Schnauzer mix. My age doesn’t show though! I weigh about 35 lbs. I love to be pet! I am an inside and outside pup. I have been with my master for 10 of those years. She rescued me from the animal shelter. She tells me my time was almost up so that’s how I got the name Lucky. My master’s husband is now terminally ill and needs to spend all her time with him. Even though it’s going to be hard to part ways I understand. I know this was a difficult decision for her. Since he became terminally ill she hasn’t been able to take me to the vet, so I will need all my shots and a lump on my side checked out. It doesn’t bother me at all though. The only things I do not like is my feet and ears to be messed with. I love kids! I prefer women, at first. I do get along well with other female dogs. I like other males but if they try to overrule me I will stand up for myself. I’m an inside and outside doggy, although I prefer the inside. If you leave me out too long then I will dig in your yard because I am bored. I do need to have at least a 5 foot fence as I am a pretty good escape artist. I walk well on a leash and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE walks. I ride well in a care, do good with females dogs and live with cats and ignore them. PLEASE give me a new home so my mommy can concentrate on taking care of my daddy.

There is a screening process to adopt me and my adoption fee is a suggested donation to NINNA’S ROAD TO RESCUE (501c3 pending) of $30.00 for their help in rehoming me and to help assure I go to a good home. Also, be sure to keep me on a monthly heartworm preventive. Dogs get heartworms from mosquitoes and the only way to protect me is with a monthly preventive that you get from your vet!

If you need to rehome a pet and want your pet posted here and adoptapet.com, e-mail roadtorescue@bellsouth.net for more information on what we need to post your animal.

Please also consider donating to Ninna’s Road to Rescue to help us with our new facility opening mid-May, 2012, in Benton, La. You can mail your donations to Ninna’s Road to Rescue at 6 Sterling Ranch North, Haughton, La. 71037; or make your donation at any Bossier Federal Credit Union in Bossier City, La.
