Susie-Q's Story...
Susie-Q is a super sweet Border Collie-mix that is looking for a loving forever home to call her own! She is approximately 5 to 6 years old and is medium sized weighing 40 pounds. She is a very mild-mannered girl that is people and dog-friendly. Susie loves hanging out and chewing on her rawhides, playing with her squeaky toys, and cuddling with her favorite people and other dogs (not cats!). She was abandoned in the holding run at a high-kill shelter before she found rescue with Lucky Dog, so nobody really knows what her earlier life was like. We can only guess that she was a neglected farm dog who was never on leash before. She is quite shy and afraid of being on a leash at first, but is slowly learning that the leash is not going to hurt her. She knows the commands sit and down, so someone obviously took the time to train her, but it is sadly obvious she never had the pampered life that she deserves to have!

Susie-Q is healthy, de-wormed, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Susie-Q, please contact Melia at melia88@comcast.net or Ray at colonelchisholm@sbcglobal.net or 847-639-6801 or 815-382-1169. Her adoption donation of $200 benefits the rescued dogs of Lucky Dog Rescue. She is currently being kenneled and would love to be in a more nurturing home environment.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Susie-Q, a Chicago Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
