Update by Cane's Foster Mom:
Cane is adjusting very well to life in our home, he is so calm and friendly. He is wonderful with small children, our 3 year old niece came to stay and he played so well with her!!! He is a very quick study learning new things everyday. If your looking for a gentle goof Cane is your guy. He is great with other dogs, cats, small kids, and he loves everyone he meets. Please consider adding Cane to your family today. We love having him but he needs a family of his own.

----------

Cane is a shepherd mix who has a carefree personality and is eager to please. He loves to be out of his pen earning cookies for basic commands like sit and down. Cane walks pretty well on his leash and loves to be out sightseeing and meeting new people on the street. Cane met our canine volunteer Raya and had a blast! Cane is currently with a foster family so if you would like to meet him, please call 311 to arrange to meet this charming boy.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
Who We Are:
The Animal Services Agency provides animal control measures under the City of Winnipeg Charter and related by-laws. This service also includes public education and the promotion of responsible pet ownership and care for cats and dogs, as well as the adoption of unclaimed animals.

How things work:
All dogs and puppies that are brought in are checked for microchips, tattoos and other forms of ID in hopes of reuniting them with their owners. If no ID is found, we hold the dog for 6 days in hoped their owners come to claim them. If no one comes we temperament test them, vet check them, vaccinate them, and place them in our adoption program.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Cane, a Winnipeg Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type) for sale in Winnipeg, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type) dog from a breeder in Winnipeg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Winnipeg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Winnipeg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Winnipeg paves the way for another one to be saved.
