My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Due to Poppy’s new owner having an unexpected accident she is unable to care for him at this time and with much sadness she had to return Poppy. If you are a family with children that would like to have a little dog as part of your pack, then look no further.  Poppy is an adorable, loving, friendly and happy little boy that adapts to new situations easily and loves everyone.  He is super cute and cuddly and just an all around wonderful family companion.  Poppy weighs just 10 lbs and is approximately 2 - 3 years old.

Here is what his foster family had to say about Poppy:

Poppy is very sweet, friendly and playful. He loves everyone (and every dog) he meets. He is a beautiful dog with a lovely coat. He is one of the sweetest dogs we’ve had, very easy going, adapted easily to the household, very eager to please, loves lap time, loves to sit on Jasmine’s lap while she is doing homework, yet his desire to be with someone isn’t bothersome or clingy. Personality-wise, he is just about the perfect dog.* He deserves a great home! We wish we could keep him.

Poppy is social with everyone and has no problem with anyone picking him up including being carried around by young children. He is a sturdy little guy that would make a wonderful child's playmate.

Poppy has been great with all other dogs; he wants to play with the cat, but after only one clear message from the cat that he is not interested in playing, the dog learned to stay away. Poppy has not paid any attention to the bunny in his cage.

Sometimes a little barking and jumping at the French door where he can see us getting ready to leave the house, but rather it is minor. I think as long as he is with the other dog, he doesn’t mind. He is crate trained however he doesn't need to be crated and he is not crated at this time. He has only been left totally on his own for a few hours as usually he is left with our dog and there have been no problems. He does like to sleep with his people at night. Sometimes he will bark a little when he sees that we are getting ready to leave the house but it is minor. He has had the occasional accident when left for more than a few hours in the home but is getting better, as we are at learning his cues. He would do best with someone that is home much of the day to continue with his training or to be crated until he can be fully trusted in the home.

Poppy's favourite things to do are cuddling with someone or being with our dog Khloe. He also likes to play with toys. Running in the back yard. Going for walks. Seeing other dogs. This dog loves to do what ever you are doing! He seems happy most of the time.

He barks a moderate amount, when playing, at the fence or front door when there is activity, when you first get up in the morning – but not incessantly and not just to bark. He appears to know his basic commands such as come, down, off, sit for a treat, all are pretty good. He is easy to walk.
