My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! I’m Oscar, and I’m so pleased to meet you. I’m just like Oscar the Grouch, except that I’m not grouchy (in fact, I’m the opposite) and I’m not green. Maybe we’re not that much alike. Anyway, I am an extremely friendly, laid back, loving, and all-around amazing young boy! Also, you are bound to notice that I am extremely handsome. I’m a Siamese mix, and am a large kitty with big chubby cheeks! I’m told the ladies like them. I can spend all day snoozing on your lap or getting pets. I am completely happy to be picked up and carried around, brushed, or just loved on. When you meet me, I will be shocked if you don’t fall in love with me! Goodness knows that I already have a fan club among the volunteers here.

I count myself as lucky to be alive. I was a transfer from another shelter to MaxFund. I was on the list to be euthanized, when a volunteer rescued me and brought me to a place where I can be safe and happy and well-fed for as long as I need it. I then got adopted and was so happy. Sadly, my adopter traveled a lot and I got bored and entertained myself any way I could, which he didn't appreciate. I wish he had just brought a buddy home to entertain me, because I'm good with other cats. Instead, he brought me back here. Hopefully this time I am adopted forever.

One thing you should know about me is that I have tested positive for FIV. So what does that mean? Well, I shouldn't go to a house with a smoker. FIV is not transmittable to dogs or humans. It is only transmittable to other cats via penetrating bites, so many people have FIV and non-FIV cats living in their house with no problem. Some people get scared off by the FIV label, but I hope you aren't one of them, because really, I’m too good to miss out on.

I get along well with other cats and I would probably do just fine with a dog, because I’m such an easygoing guy. I would also be a great cat for children, because I am gentle and sweet and would be happy to be petted, picked up, or even dressed up and put in a baby carriage! (I can’t really picture that, but I’m open to it!) To know me is to love me, so won’t you come and get to know me?
