Shelby is a pure bred Black and White American Field bred English Pointer. She came into the rescue in mid January from a high kill shelter in Shelbyville, IL. She was very malnourished and needed to be treated for Giardia and is still being treated for Ehrlichia and Lyme disease (from tick bites). We were surprised to see her belly growing the weeks that followed and on February 27th, she gave birth to 8 beautiful puppies. Dad looks to be a Border Collie. Because we started treating her right away her pregnancy went very well and also her puppies are being treated along with her (through her breast milk) and growing like weeds. If she had not been diagnosed and treated via IBR's Tick borne disease standards, she may have lost many or most of her puppies.

***PUPPY ADOPTIONS*** Adopters need to have safe fenced in yards and be non-smoking homes. Some pups are showing pointing potential- but our goal for these kids are pet/working homes and being Pointer/BC mixes, they will be GREAT Agility candidates. ALL adoption info will be provided at the time of the phone interview. If you are interested in adopting this pet through our rescue organization, please go to the Adopting A Friend section to read about our pre-adoption policies and vetting protocols.
