I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.

Filly's Story...
Filly is a female that looks to be mostly English Pointer. We estimate that she is approximately 2 or 3 years of age and weighs about 45 pounds. She came to us from the Austin city dog pound. Animal control officers in Austin picked her up being loose, and placed her into the dog pound. The owner then has 10 days to claim their dog, but no one showed up to claim her, so we took Filly into our Humane Society shelter. Filly is great with people and other dogs. She is a hunting-breed type though so her new home should be able to provide her ample opportunities for exercise. Filly loves to have fun and play with the toys in the kennel yard. She did test positive for heartworm when she first came in, but she’s now successfully finished with the treatment and has a clean bill of health. Filly is spayed and current with all vaccinations. She does a very good job of keeping her kennel clean, but her new home should plan on doing some housetraining work just to be sure. Her adoption fee is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Filly, a Austin Pointer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pointer for sale in Austin, or seeking a Pointer dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pointer breeders who help with Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
