Chrissy's Story...
Chrissy and three of her siblings were being dumped at our "shelter" when I was there picking up a couple of other dogs. I stopped the man turning them in and asked if he would give them to me, because they were only about 5 weeks old and would be put to sleep. He agreed, and her siblings have already found homes. She is about 8 weeks old now, has been dewormed, checked by a vet, and received her first vaccination.

Her adoption fee is $50 and a contract stating that she must be spayed by the time she is 8 months old is required.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chrissy, a Bakersfield Dachshund/Chihuahua puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Bakersfield, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua puppy from a breeder in Bakersfield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bakersfield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bakersfield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bakersfield paves the way for another one to be saved.
