Speck's Story...
Speck is one of the coolest Chihuahuas I have ever met. She doesn’t have an ounce of “little dog syndrome”. She loves all dogs, cats, people, everything! She likes to cuddle on the couch while we watch tv and wrestles with the dogs when it is play time. She is house broken, crate trained, and just an awesome little girl. She will make a great addition to any home.

Speck was initially rescued from a rural county shelter in NC. Her owner dumped her and her newly weaned litter. Her puppies were quickly adopted but she was left behind. We rescued her and two others that day. Unfortunately, two of the other dogs rescued with her came down with distemper and parvo, so Speck had to be quarantined in a foster home for 2 months. She never showed any symptoms of either disease. The day one of her buddies started having parvo symptoms, Speck would not eat her breakfast so she spent that day at the vet and was on antibiotics for a week just in case.

She is doing great though and loving life in the house with her foster parents and siblings.

If you are interested in making this sweet girl a part of your family, please email and we will send you an application.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Speck, a Pittsboro Chihuahua/Rat Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier for sale in Pittsboro, or seeking a Chihuahua/Rat Terrier dog from a breeder in Pittsboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pittsboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pittsboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Rat Terrier breeders who help with Chihuahua/Rat Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pittsboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
