Meeeeeoooooowwwwwww! You can't walk into the building without hearing Big Papi's commanding voice! Big Papi sure has a lot to talk about and will let everyone know about it when they come in the door. Big Papi is incredibly affectionate and enjoys hanging out with his people, even if that means following you from room to room. It is so much fun carrying Big Papi around because he's such a cuddly big bear of a cat! He loves being pet and will reward your efforts by nuzzling your ear, snuggling close, and revving up his rather impressive purr motor! Don't be surprised if Big Papi ends up in your lap; as a certified lap kitty, that's one of his favorite places to be.
One of Big Papi's weaknesses is cat grass and catnip. He LOVES the stuff. We've caught him rolling around in catnip while lying on top of his cardboard scratcher. If there is no catnip around to fulfill his needs, Big Papi is very accepting of kitty treats. Big Papi likes playing with swizzle wands, standing on his hind legs and vigorously batting at it until he is victorious! Big Papi also enjoys passing time with a good grooming session to maintain his handsome black smoke fur and fluffy tail. He gets so excited when you show him a brush! The subtlety in which he sticks out his chin as far as it can go, suggests that he especially enjoys having his chin brushed. We confirmed this by brushing his chin (and his head) and did indeed find out that those are some of this favorite spots to be brushed! Speaking of grooming...
Several of our volunteers have discovered Big Papi has a big career ahead of him as a hair stylist. That's right - our Big Papi is a very talented groomer - a groomer of people's hair! He groomed and styled one volunteer's hair while simultaneously giving her a hug. Our volunteer was pleased with the outcome as she noted, "it didn't look any worse than it did when I arrived". Another volunteer recounts her experience under Big Papi's expert care..." He jumped up into my lap and took a look at my hair and decided he didn't like my do. So he proceeded to groom me. He went to town doing his best work. When he thought he had got it just right, my hair looked like I had stuck my finger in an electrical outlet, and don't forget, wet. All that matters though is he thought I looked a hundred times better."
Big Papi is now living in foster care where he has successfully made his foster parents fall in love with him! Big Papi has actually become something of a celebrity, complete with his own fan club. Friends of his foster parents will call and instead of asking how the foster parents are doing, will instead ask how Big Papi is doing! Their online friends will sign off by reminding the foster parents to not forget and say hello to Big Papi for them. He's even gotten invited to some parties!
Big Papi is quite a guy - an accomplished conversationalist, someone who enjoys getting nipped out, and a talented hair stylist. Honestly, how many guys do you come across that possess all 3 of these amazing traits?? Please consider adding Big Papi to your family so he can work his special magic on you!
Rescue Group Info...
RESCUE is a registered non-profit volunteer based animal rescue organization located in Maricopa County. RESCUE has no central facility and is volunteer run. Our focus is on the "kill lists." We were founded in 1995, and with the support of our volunteers and our community, we have found homes for over 9,000 dogs and cats. Our motto is for every animal adopted, we are back to rescue another. We depend on the community for our support and offer a variety of satisfying ways for you to get involved in our mission to end the killing of the orphaned dogs and cats. Please consider adopting, volunteering or donating.
We do not have a shelter. We are at various special events around the valley. Please see our Upcoming Events section on our website for further information. We look forward to meeting you and introducing you to some of our wonderful animals.
Fill out an online application, have an interview with a Matchmaker, if we are in philosophical alignment, set up a meet and greet and if all goes well finalize the adoption. Our service fee for dogs is $150 and $125 for cats. All our dogs and cats are spayed and neutered prior to adoption.
