Bernadette's Story...
Bernadette is a 3-year-old, tri-colored girl who was picked up as a stray by Rockdale County Animal Control. She is up-to-date on her vaccinations and is spayed. Bernadette is extremely skittish, but she is responding to the TLC in her foster home. She wants to be petted, but is afraid to get too near to you. She has gotten where she will take treats from foster Mom and Dad's hands and then back quickly away to eat her treat. She needs a quiet, loving home since loud and/or sudden noises make her bolt for the doggie door. She is crate-trained and housetrained.

Bernadette, a Marietta Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Basset Hound for sale in Marietta, or seeking a Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Marietta.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Marietta already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Marietta breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Basset Hound breeders who help with Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Marietta paves the way for another one to be saved.
