Juanita is a beautiful 10 year old retired "working girl". What does a working girl entail for a little chihuahua girl? Basically it means this five year old girl spent her entire life, up until she came to us about a year ago, having litter after litter of puppies. Juanita never had the opportunity to be someone's adorable puppy or snuggle up on someone's lap and watch tv. She never had a bed to sleep in.
When they were done with Juanita, out she went. They didn't care where. She had served her purpose. We think that Juanita deserved much better and we want to make sure the rest of her years are spent being cherished and loved. Juanita has no teeth, but still eats great. She has a lot of life left in her. Juanita only has two "issues". The first is she has what's called Luxating Patella. Without going into a lot of medical detail, this means that she requires surgery on both knees. Surgery has been quoted at around $800. (We have raised the money for her surgery and she will be scheduled ASAP!!)
Some people might ask why we would spend that much money on a 10 year old chihuahua. When we commit to a dog, we commit to doing everything that dog needs. Juanita deserves to spend the rest of her life out of pain and in a forever home. Which brings us to her second "issue". Juanita needs a home. Please consider donating to Juanita's surgery. And maybe, just maybe, someone will see her picture and have a little spot on their lap for a girl who would be thankful tenfold.
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not meet he/she will be adopted to that home.
Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
