Butters's Story...
Butters is a flat coated retriever, estimated age is about 5 - 6 years. He weighs 28 lbs but needs to put on some weight. He has a shiny black coat and does not seem to shed much. He was given that name by his rescuer because she said he is "as sweet as Butter".

He has a very gentle nature, soulful brown eyes and is very well behaved in the home. It is almost as if he needs to know that whatever he does it is ok and won't be scolded for it. He can use a doggy door, walks well on leash and is crate trained however, because he doesn't seem to get in trouble crating during the day is unnecessary. Butters is a great companion and family dog, and will over time become more interactive but he may not be as active as young children may want, but if you want a furry best friend - Butters will be that friend.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Butters, a Schertz Flat-Coated Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in Schertz, or seeking a Flat-Coated Retriever dog from a breeder in Schertz.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Schertz already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Schertz breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Schertz paves the way for another one to be saved.
