My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bowie is a small, sweet, and loving little dog who is super well behaved. She is a darling little dog that deserves to be loved and adored. She is a tiny little thing at just under 10 lbs and would not be a good choice for very young children as she could easily be hurt. At the same time, she can keep up with the bigger dogs and loves everyone. She is an adult dog approximately 3 years old who requires little other than someone to love.

Bowie was recently spayed when we got her, but after she got the post-op blues out of her system, her personality really came to and she won us over quickly. She is the perfect companion dog and is happiest on a lap or wrapped up in a blanket. It would be impossible for her to get too much cuddle time - she's always up for being picked up and held. Bowie is sometimes hesitant with strangers, but quickly gets over it with some kind words of praise - She just wants to be cuddled, it doesn't matter who!

Bowie sometimes gets her back up when meeting another dog - even minture poodles tower over her 9 inch height. If Bowie makes first contact/sniff, she makes a friend, however with energetic or very playful larger dogs, she'll let them know that she's not quite ready for play time.

Bowie is a "people dog" and quietly cries when you leave her. Provided she's got a comforter/blanket, she'll eventually pull it over herself (super cute) and fall asleep. She had a few accidents in the first few days, however quickly learned that "outside" was the proper place to go. Since the "light bulb" seems to have gone off in her head, she hasn't had any accidents since.

She doesn't chew, play with toys, or run around very much. She enjoys walks, but would be perfectly fine in an apartment. She has this really quiet "cry" which is almost a grunt. Its very endearing and cute, and really tugs at your heart strings!

She knows to come when you call her name. She also knows "no" , "bed" and "off". Sitting is kind of a moot point for her as it really doesn't have any effect - her legs are just so darn short! She is fully house trained. She'll hold it while we're at work, and when we come home, she's able to get down the hall, wait for the elvator, walk out of the building and wait until we get to grass before going. She kind of looks at you and starts dancing around when she has to go. Its very "pleading" and obvious what she's asking for.

She is fully crate trained and readily goes in the crate. She'll cry quietly for as long as she hears you awake, when you go silent, so does she. She rides very well in the car - she'll just sit on your lap and fall asleep. She is somewhat leash trained? Its really hard to notice - she's so tiny so "pulling" doesn't really tire you out. I haven't tripped over her yet, she's pretty good about not cutting you off. Bowie is awesome in the house. She doesn't chew, destroy, or anything. She seems to have a dislike of the wood floors, so I'm guessing she was only allowed on carpet in her previous life.

Bowie loves her people - I imagine her with someone retired, or home much of the day who is looking for a sweet companion to keep them company. She would also be excellent for someone that was able to take their dog to work. While she is not an overly needy dog, she is a lap dog who will want on the couch, and horde your blankets. She is very clean and well behaved, and will bring happiness and many "warm fuzzies" to whomever takes her home. She's a true darling, and gets many comments and "aweee" comments from passers-by.
