My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DRE is an 8 year old miniature poodle. He came to us a little overweight at 18 lbs, but likes walks and exercise so he should be slimming down a bit.

Let him come to you. If you try to pick him up first, he will back up very quickly. Once he is comfortable, then he will let you pick him up. He seems very timid at first, but he is not. He likes to be the Alpha dog and would be great as an only dog. Would make a perfect companion for a home where someone will take him for daily long walks but also spend time sitting around with him.
