Troika's Story...

Troika, is a beautiful Tortie female looking for her Forever Family! She is currently recovering from her spay surgery and will get her Booster shot and microchipped this week, so she is ready to start looking for her new home. Troika was found as a semi-feral/stray cat and is adjusting well to indoor living. She seems indifferent to the other dogs and cats in her Foster home. And wants to be affectionate and trust people. If you have room in your heart and home for a sweet, pretty kitty....contact Animals Against The Odds Rescue & Rehab at 412-736-5276 for an Adoption Application.

About Our Rescue Group...
Up to 70,000 animals are euthanized each year in the Los Angeles City Shelters. This is almost 200 animals per day. This staggering figure doesnÂ’t even include all other surrounding LA County shelters. What is more shocking is that most of these animals were highly adoptable. A great number of these animals have something in common. They have medical conditions such as broken legs, tumors, eye problems or malformations. These animals have been hit by cars, acquired kennel cough in shelters or they are abandoned mothers with litters of unweaned puppies.

For these animals, their fate in the shelter is an almost certain death sentence.

What the organization H.E.L.P. has managed to do so far is change the future of some great animals.

Medical

H.E.L.P. assists animals in LA City Shelters with medical problems that would prohibit them from being adopted. H.E.L.P uses its funds to pay for medical treatment for the sick/injured animal. In cases where the animal will be euthanized, H.E.L.P. adopts the animal and arranges for medical treatment and foster care.

H.E.L.P also assists individuals who are interested in an animal at the shelter, but are discouraged by the potential high veterinary costs. We also assist individuals who adopt from the shelters and discover that their animal has a medical condition subsequent to adoption. We arrange for the animal to receive veterinary care and offer financial assistance to the adopter. The funds that H.E.L.P. has raised are used to pay for the medical costs. If the adopter has already arranged for the animal to receive medical care, we reimburse the costs upon receipt of the veterinary bill. We also offer the adopter the choice to let us adopt the animal or assist in finding it a new home; rather than see it go back to the shelter where the chance that it will be euthanized is extremely high.

Come Meet Our Pets...
We do not have a shelter or kennel facilities are are always looking for volunteer foster homes. If you can help, please contact us.
Our Adoption Process...
Each potential adopter of any animal is required to go through an adoption process that includes an application, contract and interview with one or more of our members. We make sure the potential adopter is aware of the medical, training and social needs of the animal; whether it is a growing puppy or an older animal. If the individual is approved, we will perform a home check to make sure that animal is going to a safe and good environment. The adopter agrees to return the animal to us at any point during their lifetime if they intend to give it up. We are committed to finding these animals great homes and screen our applicants very carefully.

In cooperation with a respected animal trainer, we are able to offer discounted lifetime lessons to the individuals who adopt from H.E.L.P. We also participate in regular Mobile Pet Adoptions in cooperation with the LA City Shelters. We take harder to place animals to local community sites for the Mobile Pet Adoptions to increase their visibility to the public
