Austin's Story...
AARF only adopts in Richmond, Virginia.

Hey out there, my name is Austin and I am an Australian Shepherd mix. So you know what that means, I love to herd people, animals and everything that will let me!! HEEHEE I am a nipper right now but my foster mom is working on that too. I am a four month old ball of fire and spunk.

AARF will NOT adopt me to families with children under the age of 10 or families that are planning to have children because of my nipping and herding abilities.I also will need a fenced in yard so that I can run and get my energy out.

Training classes are highly recommended!!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Austin, a Richmond Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog puppy from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog breeders who help with Australian Shepherd/Australian Cattle Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
