My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Miss Mollie Mae’s gray coat is so deeply hued that she appears almost blue, and her foster mom wonders if she is not a Russian Blue Cat. Strikingly beautiful with lovely green eyes, Mollie Mae is dainty and intelligent. Timid and somewhat wary, Mollie is making great strides in learning to trust in a world that was not so trustworthy in her early days.

Dumped in a vacant lot in the country with many other abandoned cats two years ago, and picked on due to her small size and timid nature, Mollie was one of the lucky few who were humanely trapped and rescued before the remaining cat colony was poisoned shortly thereafter.

As luck would have it she came into the care of one our Hedgesville Hounds volunteers (working with a friend independently to save these cats) who had her vetted and spayed, and found Mollie Mae a foster home. In September, our volunteer took Mollie into her home, and since then, Mollie has made great strides in learning to trust. She now enjoys being pet all over, likes to play, and has impeccable house manners.

Her new (and first) best buddy is Simon, another foster cat who “moved in” to her home about a month ago. To her foster mom’s surprise, Simon charmed Mollie Mae in no time, which speaks to both Simon’s affability and Mollie’s burgeoning ability to bond and love.

Respectful of her boundaries, Simon is happy to lie down nearby and keep his new friend company. Mollie Mae in turn seems to very much enjoy Simon’s company as well. When she sees her foster mom cuddling Simon (he’s a snuggle monster!) there is a sparkle of interest in Mollie Mae’s eyes. Since Simon has arrived, her foster mom has been able to pick her up and put her face to Mollie’s.

Mollie Mae would love nothing more than a quiet household, with loving humans who have the time to give her the love and attention she needs, and the patience to allow her to adjust to a “cat fancy” life. She would love to stay with her friend Simon forever and ever (Simon has his own listing if you would like to check it out!). We have great faith in Mollie Mae. We hope you do too!
