My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poppie is a very rambunctious boy of 13 months who was given up by his owners who thought he was too active as they were about to have a new baby. We think they might have kept him in a crate too much. He is very intelligent, attentive, affectionate and eager to please. He desperately wants to be a lap dog but is a little too active right now - but will probably grow up to be a good lap dog. He is completely house trained and knows some commands such as sit and no. He is the usual tawny pug color and weighs 23.5lbs. - he is on a diet. Poppie has no known health problems. He did not know how to walk on a leash but is now walking nicely for 30 minutes a day. He was fearful of loud sounds and some people, so we take time on our walks to meet and greet others. He is no longer fearful of trucks and buses, but is still skittish about motorcycles and construction equipment.
In his foster home, there is a another dog and cat. He has not been around other animals and is curious about them, but not aggressive. He is a strong dog and would not be a good pet for an older or frail person or with very small children. A yard would be an advantage, so he can run off some energy. He needs training around the house and consistent discipline, until he outgrows his puppy years. He manages to get a lot of love; he is very cute. He is crate trained and calms when in his crate. He loves to chew and is learning how to chew on rubber toys rather than flip flops and things he finds on the floor. He is also learning how to play by himself, but he likes to stay close to his owner. He will be a great pet for someone. Poppie is being fostered in central Virginia and his asking adoption fee is $325.
