My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

PLEASE CLICK ON READ MORE ABOUT THIS PET FOR COMPLETE INFORMATION!

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.

Duke is a 2 year old yellow lab, or yellow lab/golden retriever mix. He was found stray near Howard Lake and is in foster care there. Duke has a wonderful personality, plays every day with four other dogs but was scared of the tile floor and other dogs when he went to the vet! Duke is house trained and is so grateful to be in foster care after being on the lam. He does need a fenced yard and someone to play with him, run with him or hunt him. Duke is with a 501c3 rescue. His $250 adoption fee covers his full veterinary care including neuter, heartworm test and pill, immunizations for distemper/parvo and rabies, worming, and a HomeAgain microchip.

To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.

• Homeowners: Required

• Status of adopter: 25+

• Previous dog owning experience: Preferred
