FEMALE- SWEET 15 MONTHS OLD – DEAF
This is Laila- Due to unforseen circumstances, a lady who found this sweet girl in March of 2011 by Wurster vet clinic fell in love with her and had been "fostering" her up until about three weeks ago. She had a home, lived mostly outside on the water and had a Rottweiler to play with. Those unforeseen "family" circumstances came into play and Laila found herself in a 4X6 kennel and a concrete floor with a doghouse and a bed and lots of dogs around her. As the other dogs barked away, she heard nothing........ this sweet angel is deaf.

She was very timid when she first came to us but has gotten more comfortable, still very unsure of why her world has been turned upside down. She walks well on the leash and when she is outside, she stays by your side.

The one silly thing she'll do from time to time is she turns in circles as if she's chasing her tail, but she's looking up in the air as she's doing it. We wonder if she can hear the buzzing of a fly or something else buzzing in her ear and it makes her do circles and sometimes bark as she's turning. She does a funny thing with her mouth too and it looks like she's trying to smile.

She is playful and loves to run with you. She's approx. 15 months now and already spayed. She will get her annual vaccinations this month along with a yearly heartworm test. She has been on heartworm preventative monthly.

This angel will make a very good companion for someone. Not sure about little kids though and her deafness. We are afraid that she may be startled by little ones since she can't hear.

If you know of or have anyone that you can please spread her story and her pictures around to, please do so. I have spent a little bit of time with her and can talk more about her if anyone has any questions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Natchitoches Hope (Laila), a Haughton Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever for sale in Haughton, or seeking a Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Haughton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Haughton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Haughton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Bull Terrier/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Haughton paves the way for another one to be saved.
