NIKKI's Story...

THIS IS NIKKI....a precious, 1 yr old, gold/white parti Shih Tzu....whose life had not begun until she came to Lhasa Happy Homes. When we pulled her out of the Baldwin Park Shelter, she was a mess. This poor baby had alligator skin, no hair, and one of the worst cases of demodex mange that we have ever seen. Her eyes were infected and dry; there wasn't a part of her body that wasn't infected. There is no question this baby girl had been neglected and possibly even abused....but those days are far behind her now....and despite what she had endured, as stinky and yucky as she was....she couldn't stop kissing me on the face saying "thank you" for saving my life!! It has taken Nikki four months to heal...and as you can see by her new pictures, she is sporting a new beautiful coat, her eyes are doing so much better and she is a happy girl! We're not sure what this little monkey has been through, but we do know she has a fearful streak in her. It disappears as soon as she knows you, and then she is a kissyface lover who adores toys, attention, belly rubs and being with you! Nikki bonds to her person and is as loyal as they come! She will benefit from training, as she can be a bit of a wild child....but she wants to please and she is very smart! Does she sound like a girl you could love? She will love you long as you do the same!!

Our website is updated daily. Please do not apply for this dog unless your home fits the specified criteria. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, groomed, vet checked, dewormed, deflea'd and come with a leash, collar and ID tag!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

NIKKI, a Los Angeles Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Los Angeles, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Los Angeles.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Los Angeles already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Los Angeles breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Los Angeles paves the way for another one to be saved.
