Dougal's Info...

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, not good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Dougal's Story...
This handsome guy is Dougal. He was rescued from Durham County Animal Protection Society early May 2012. Dougal is a 1 yr old Poodle mix that was in rough shape when he ended up in the shelter.

He is now neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines. Sweet Dougal has had his hip surgery and is doing fantastic. He still hops some but is improving every day. Dougal loves to play with other small dogs but can be feisty with larger dogs. He is fantastic with cats too.

Dougal does think very highly of himself so he needs to go to a home that has dog ownership experience and will put him into obedience classes. Dougal likes children but needs to be in a home with older children.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dougal, a Pittsboro Poodle (Miniature)/Bichon Frise dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Poodle (Miniature)/Bichon Frise for sale in Pittsboro, or seeking a Poodle (Miniature)/Bichon Frise dog from a breeder in Pittsboro.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pittsboro already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pittsboro breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Poodle (Miniature)/Bichon Frise breeders who help with Poodle (Miniature)/Bichon Frise rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pittsboro paves the way for another one to be saved.
