Peeve's Story...
Peeve came to the shelter with a litter of pups and their mom. She had been tied out to a picnic pavillion with her 2 week old pups in the heat of the summer. All the pups were adopted, including Peeve, but Peeve was recently returned to the shelter. Seems she is going through the puppy stage, and needs someone that can work with her as she grows up. She is very sweet, still has lots of puppy energy, and ready for a loving forever home. Please come visit!

The HUMANE SOCIETY OF INDEPENDENCE COUNTY is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals in our county. We rescue stray and injured animals, provide temporary care for homeless animals through foster homes and our shelter facility, and adopt homeless animals to permanent homes.

Our mission is to aid the citizens of Independence County in the rescue and adoption of abandoned, abused, or injured animals. The Humane Society of Independence County believes that a strong bond between man and animal is beneficial to both parties, creating an atmosphere of love and companionship that lasts a lifetime.

We are located at #5 Environmental Drive, just north of Batesville, AR, on Hwy 167, Our shelter hours are 12-5:30 Tues-Fri, and 11-4 on Saturday. We have cats also located at PetSense in the Eagle Mountain Shopping Center. If you can't make it to our shelter during our normal hours, please contact us in advance and we can make arrangements to meet with you at a mutually convenient time.

Our Adoption Process...
Our basic adoption fee is $70, which includes shots (rabies too!), worming, flea treatment and spay/neuter. If the animal is too young for rabies vaccination, the adoption fee is $60.
