My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE ARE SORRY BUT ADOPTIONS ARE LIMITED TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA ONLY

Joey is one of those handsome black and white, brown-eyed boys that people don’t see often enough to really appreciate. While the common blue eyes always imply an air of rowdiness, the brown eyes come across as more mystical and perceptive.

Joey is Heartworm positive and SHRF has started him on what the Veterinary community calls the “slow kill” treatment protocol. Since this method is actually easier on the dog but takes many months it is highly likely he will be adopted before finishing the treatment. In this case, it will be up to the adopter to continue the regimen, or, under a Veterinarians care, administer Immiticide (a much stronger heartworm treatment). Joey is young and otherwise healthy so we expect a full recovery as long as the treatment is continued.

Even at just around one year of age, he does know some basic commands such as sit and down and will take treats gently from your hand. Like many, if not most, Huskies, he is an escape artist and has a scar on top of his head from what we believe is the result of him digging his way out under a chain link fence. He can also climb a chain link fence.

Joey is a talker and he will tell you a full story if you are willing to listen. He needs training when it comes to being on leash, as he will gladly take you for a walk if you let him. He is very friendly, playful, and full of that typical Husky puppy energy.

He is good with medium and larger dogs, small dogs and other small animals are, as yet, unknown. Joey’s foster home has a cat and there have been a couple instances where he and the cat were in a stare off where he did some low growling noises. When corrected he went on about his business. Still, we advise caution where cats are concerned.

Joey appears housebroken, as there have been no issues in the first few days that he has been in foster care. He has also shown himself to be child tolerant as he interacted with a couple of younger children when first evaluated and came across as very affectionate.

Joey is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date with all his shots. Liven up your life with this spirited youngster; fill out an adoption application on our web site, WWW.SIBERRESCUE.COM, today.
