Here's what the humans have to say about me:
CHEERIO, MY GOOD CHAP! Hi Ho and all that. I can’t believe I’m here. No, really—it is quite nice and all, but, well, not that I’m a snob, or anything, but.......BUT DO YOU KNOW MY HISTORY??! DO YOU??!!
I come from a lineage of great English champs. I was particularly adored by King Charles, who was said to seldom be seen without one of my cousins long ago. And, of course, because the King was the King, people wanted to be seen as vedda vedda upper class, and so were eager to have one of my cousins as well. In fact, myths abound about me; some believed I kept fleas from the castles! I was also called the ‘comfort dog.’ The Ladies of the Day were seen carrying me around in their laps while on their daily carriage runs to get.......cloth, hats.....bananas. I don’t know what they got! But we were with them. Remind you of some today’s movie stars who keep dogs in their purses!? Ha! Things never change.
Now: why you should adopt me. I am very cuddly, lap size—obviously--, sweet natured, AND....a very big AND: on the ‘market’ I always cost about $1500. And here I am at Ahimsa, sitting on my throne, with my fur cape surrounding me, a staff in my hand, a rhinestone crown on my head (where Ahimsa mom Teresa found it I don’t know; just hope it didn’t come from a garage sale), directing the other dogs to bring me my tea and crumpets.
That’s why they call me Sir Reginald behind my back—I have a short back and I can hear!—when actually my name is Reggie. My path to Ahimsa was a sad one, but today I am luckier than all get out! Yes siree! You betcha, mate! Did I mention there are 4 colors of Cavalier Spaniels? I am the brown/black beauty. Vedda Vedda rare, don’t you know. You better hop on the bus, Gus, and get yourself down to Ahimsa.
Oh! Oh! There’s a cricket game just started! Must teach those Chihuahuas how to play. The game’s in my blood line.
I’ll be waiting for you. I am NOT a snob...although I could be. I am loving and sweet and need that special lap. Big or small lap. Just so it’s a loving lap.
