Maino's Story...
Maino needs a good home

My friend, gave me your email and said that you might be able to help me find a home for our boxer mix. I've attached some pictures. His name is Maino and he is 5 years old. We adopted him just after he turned 2 from the Humane Society. . He doesn't get riled up or anything at the sight of other dogs when we're out walking him.
He is REALLY the perfect dog. We have a two-story house and he is trained not to go upstairs. We rent and we have carpet on the second floor, so when we first got him, we just put a gate up and maybe six months later we took the gate down and simply saying his voice in a sterner tone kept him off the stairs. The kids take him up to their rooms sometimes now and he just plays for awhile, explores, and then comes back down. We do know that he was abused when he was a puppy - he's got some scars, but most of them aren't visible unless you're bathing him. Whoever had him had some type of shock-collar on him so he wouldn't bark and he doesn't bark very much at all. He, again, is trained so that when we're outside and he hears something, we give the command, "guard dog" and he barks. It is very rare that he barks in the house, but the other night someone parked right outside our house and he woke me up at almost 1 a.m. barking. I brought him outside and he barked and was jumping up on our block wall in the yard. Whoever it was got in their car and left and as soon as they did, he laid down at my feet and was completely calm. Of COURSE he gets treats for stuff like that. :( Things like that just make me even more depressed about not being able to take him with us because I know I will probably never find another dog like him. He's great with kids. My youngest is 9 and we trained him not to jump So, he doesn't jump on people unless the person is playing with him or tells him, "up". In the three years we've had him, he's only had a couple of accidents in the house and only one in the past year and a half or so. He needs Leash training.
He really picks up on emotions around him and he is SO good about staying right by me when he senses that something isn't right. He's just a precious dog.

It's breaking my heart, but I realy hope that we can find him a good home. Attached are some pretty recent pictures of him. He is truly part of the family and with one son who's grown and another on his way off to college, I'm really trying to tell myself that Maino is just moving on to bigger and better things. I just hope we can find that for him.

I would greatly appreciate any help you could give us in finding him someone to love, and someone who will appreciate him just as much as we do. :'(

Thank you!
