Tiny Francis's Story...
Tiny Francis is an 18 month old, 90 pound SUPER lucky ducky doggy... He was in the puppy pokey twice because he has hip dysplasia and walks funny. The vet says he's in no pain and at this time does not require surgery, but may in the future. Someone placed a St. Francis medallion (St. Francis of Assisi is the Patron Saint for the Protection of Animals. He was a lover of all creation and a champion of justice) to his collar, so we feel there was a little devine intervetion sending Sunny "Saints" to rescue him from the shelter. He is a total lover boy that gets attached to people quickly and wants so much to think that you will be his forever family that he doesn't want to let you out of his sight. He may have a little separation anxiety, but hopefully once he has consistency and love in his life at a forever home, he will realize that he's home, safe and won't be abandoned in another shelter and doesn't need to keep you in view at all times. He is timid around other dogs at first, but after a couple of days he initiates play. He doesn't seem to mind riding in the car, but so far we have had to pick him up to get him in and that may just be his physical limitation due to his bad hips. He has no issues with food and seems to be more of a grazer then a meal eater. He is very content being LOVED on!!! He seemed to REALLY perk up when the 5 year old child in his foster home first came home, and he lost interest in following the mom around and started following the child instead .He knows sit and down. With his bad hips, we thought that would be an impairment to his activity... WERE WE EVER WRONG!! It in NO way impedes his ability to play, jump, back up, or run. He doesn't seem to be in any pain that inhibits his movement. But he is very content at laying at your feet, (or on the couch). He is a little stubborn and will selectively listen to commands. He will need someone with a strong personality, who is able to see him as a "normal dog" and not a dog with a disability, as we can see him taking advantage of that... he is a pretty bright dog!! If you have a huge heart and are intersted in giving Tiny Francis the loving home he so desperately wants, please download an adoption application from our web site at www.sunnysaints.org, submit it as instructed and you will be contacted within 24 hours.
