My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wink a 1 year old beagle boy joined us just after he had been neutered in the Sanilac shelter. We were told to keep him from a lot of activity for a few days. Not possible. He and my 2 yr old beagles Betsy and Chewbacca were playing from the start. They just love to tease each other by playing keep away and by chasing each other. Wink is only around a year old and is still very much a puppy. He is king of klutzy and does some really funny things, like stretching and falling off the couch and taking a corner too fast and slipping down. He loves any action. If there is any action whatsoever in the house, he wants part of it.

To our surprise, he has slept in the crate each night in the living room, away from everyone else. He only complains a little when he hears one of us or one of the dogs not sleeping. When I let him out in the morning, he’s ready to go.

Wink is feed separately from the other two dogs in the back room, to cut down on possible altercations. I am able to pet and handle him when he is eating. After the second day, he automatically ran into the back room and waits for his food.

He is good in the crate, good with dogs, and has begun to bark since being more familiar with things in the area. He has had two accidents in the house (both our fault) and loves going in and out the doggie door. He is good in cars, would probably not be good in an apartment, and probably needs a fence to roam. He is not shy and we think he likes to dig, although we have not caught him at it yet.

He loves being around other people and dogs, will hug and sit on your lap at night, and has been eyeing over my bed for the last two weeks. I think he knows the other two sleep with me there and is trying to work on me.

He sometimes listens to NO and always listens if you shake a magazine within 20 feet of him. If you correct him too many times, he tends to pout for the next ½ hour.

He is very smart when he wants to be and is stubborn most of the time.

He is a very loving dog. He had our hearts the first day. Loves rawhides, good with kids, needs to be kept busy when possible, is very affectionate.

He is slightly larger than a 15” beagle and weighs about 26 pounds. His fur is really soft and if you hug him real closely, he will nibble on your nose.
