Sonia aka Sable's Story...
Sable is a beautiful deep chocolatey black fluffy Himalayan with white whiskers declawed female about 10 years old as of January 2012. She prefers very soft litter like Wheat Scoop because she has no fingers. She's an independent girl who loves to sit with you in your lap. She is okay with the cats here but would love to be an only special pet! She can be somewhat touchy sometimes so is best off with an experienced adopter who will let her have her space when needed.

About Our Shelter...
Our mission at Town Cats is to maintain a No-Kill Adoption Center/Shelter and foster home network for friendly homeless cats and kittens awaiting adoption; to bring attention to and alleviate the suffering of homeless and feral cats in Santa Clara county; to educate the public about the pet overpopulation problem and provide the public with the tools to become part of the solution to assist homeless and feral cats through Trap, Neuter and Return programs; and to find permanent, loving, and safe homes for all the homeless house cats and kittens in our care. See our video explaining the shelter (over 7 minutes long) below!

Come Meet Our Pets...
You can meet kitties at our shelter by appointment. We have some cats displayed in various stores throughout the bay area - we rotate them in and out, so stop by and see who's in the store this week! Our pet fairs change. For the latest up to date information, please check here at: http://www.towncats.org/datesl!
Our Adoption Process...
All adoptions of our cats and kittens are subject to approval by Town Cats. If approved, you can take home your new feline friend the same day provided the cat or kitten is ready to go! Our usual adoption rates: $50 per adult cat, or $90 for a pair (for more rates, see http://www.towncats.org/adopt). Each cat will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, tested for leukemia/FIV (every adult and one kitten per litter plus mom and/or dad if we have them), dewormed, defleaed, microchipped, plus routine medical check up done prior to delivery. Each adoption also includes 30 days free pet insurance and 20% discount coupon for Pet Food Express stores (check at time of adoption, sometimes we have alternate coupon books available).

Outdoor/Feral Cats adoptions require a site inspection and adoption fees vary depending on how many cats you adopt, a minimum $25 donation per cat is recommended as each cat will have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and defleaed (and microchipped, if possible). We deliver feral cats to you and will provide the enclosure/cage required for minimum 30 day imprinting.

Ask us about senior cats for senior people rates too, which are negotiated based on the cat and the person's unique situation!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sonia aka Sable, a Morgan Hill Himalayan cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Himalayan for sale in Morgan Hill, or seeking a Himalayan cat from a breeder in Morgan Hill.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Morgan Hill already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Morgan Hill breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Himalayan breeders who help with Himalayan rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Morgan Hill paves the way for another one to be saved.
