Coco's Info...

Coco's Story...
Coco is about 7-8 years old and is one of 8 dogs that were recently signed over to the MCHS by their prior owner. Austin Police originally took these dogs from a single home when the owners left due to health issues. Coco is a very nice boy. He is fine with other small dogs but we haven't tested him with a cat. It would be hard to imagine that would be a problem like always it kind of depends on the demeanor of your cat as well. He does a good job keeping his kennel clean but may not be housetrained. Any prospective home should plan on doing some housetraining with him. His adoption fee will be $95 and we do require an adoption application be completed in full and submitted a minimum of 7 to 10 days prior to us releasing the dog from the Shelter for adoption. Our adoption application form can be e-mailed to you

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Coco, a Austin Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Austin, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
