Dixie's Story...
Update from foster family:

We now are sure she would do great in a home with one or more dogs - actually we think it would be better for her: she is now playing and is VERY friendly towards our dogs and even strange dogs - we had a bbq party this past weekend and friends brought a senior and a puppy dog - total strangers to the household, and she was just wonderful with them... Yay for Dixie!

Dixie is a very sweet purebred Golden lady who wants nothing more than to stay by your side and share lots of love. After a lifetime as a breeder dog, she is learning what fun it is to be a 10 years young Golden: chasing the tennis ball, getting belly rubs, rolling and laying on the soft grass enjoying the warm sun!

Dixie is a joy to walk. She does not pull and heels all the time during the walk. She is house trained and asks to go outside if she needs to. She is not afraid of storms either. She would enjoy a doggy sibling -- past the teenage rowdy years, please or would love to be your solo golden. She has great house manners, and does not counter-surf, chew on shoes or eat socks. She likes to nap listening to Diana Krall.

Dixie is currently on medical hold - please check back for updates in late May or early June.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dixie, a Denver Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Denver, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Denver.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Denver already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Denver breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Denver paves the way for another one to be saved.
