Dakota's Story...
Meet Dakota! He is a 2 year old Siberian Husky who's previous owners surrendered him before relocating. He is a strikingly beautiful Husky who gets compliments wherever he goes. His coat is guaranteed to be one of the softest you have ever felt! More importantly though, Dakota has a great temperament. He is a lover to all, big and small, two legs or four (although we're not sure about cats yet). Dakota seems to be initially shy with men, but is very quick to warm up. He wants to be with people, and will soak up all the petting and hugs you can give him. He will return the love tenfold with his company and tons of wet kisses! He is laid-back and has easily adapted to new environments and people with an endearing amount of child-like curiosity. Dakota knows how to sit, shake, and take treats nicely. Future obedience training and maintenance with his forever family is recommended given his breed and energy level. He is a very typical Husky, so doing breed research is highly encouraged to figure out if he is a good fit for you.

Dakota currently lives another large male dog, and they run and play for hours. Because of this, Dakota would do best in a home with another dog he can play with, or with an active family who will channel his energy in a positive way. Someone with breed experience is a big plus! Dakota loves playing with toys, especially bones, and has not shown any interest in being destructive or chewing on inappropriate things.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dakota, a Rochester/Buffalo Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Husky for sale in Rochester/Buffalo, or seeking a Husky dog from a breeder in Rochester/Buffalo.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Rochester/Buffalo already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Rochester/Buffalo breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Husky breeders who help with Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Rochester/Buffalo paves the way for another one to be saved.
