Willa's Story...
5/15/12 Meet Willa! This beautiful set of English setter mixes came into rescue from eastern North Carolina. The mother is a beautiful English setter from a local hunter. He suspects the father may be a Blue Tick from a neighbor. Most hunters in NC are resistant to spaying and neutering their dogs, so we were lucky to talk this gentleman into spaying the mother and turning these three beautiful angels over to us. They are 12 weeks old and weight between 11 and 12 lbs. They are very sweet, but as they have been living in a pen in the yard, they are a bit shy with strangers. When they came in for vetting, they quickly warmed up to us when we showed them a little TLC and shared some treats! This is Willa, the baby of the group. As you can see, she was terrified of the camera, but warmed right up to us when we stopped pointing that strange thing at her!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Willa, a Southampton English Setter/Bluetick Coonhound puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English Setter/Bluetick Coonhound for sale in Southampton, or seeking a English Setter/Bluetick Coonhound puppy from a breeder in Southampton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Southampton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Southampton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English Setter/Bluetick Coonhound breeders who help with English Setter/Bluetick Coonhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Southampton paves the way for another one to be saved.
