Plum's Story...
/15/12 Plum is a peach of a girl! She has captivated the hearts of all those she meets. Plum, is also known as "the Wal-Mart" dog as she was tied to a post in front of the store in eastern North Carolina. She spent the night there tied to that post when no one noticed or reported that the dog was there until the next morning when workers leaving their night shift realized that she had been there the whole time. It was only after looking at the video surveillance that the managers verified that she had been there from dusk until dawn at the 24 hour store. Malnourished and severely dehydrated, Plum came in to rescue and has been showing her gratitude ever since. She enthusiastically greets all those she meets, whether human or canine. So any doggie friends or housemates need to be ok with her socialness. She does not enjoy gates or doors between her and her people. This may have to do with being abandoned at Wal-Mart where she waited all night for her people to return. As long as she is with her people and doggie friends, she is content and a well mannered girl. Possibly an English setter mix, Plum is estimated to be around two to three years old and weighs 50 lbs

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Plum, a Southampton English Setter dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a English Setter for sale in Southampton, or seeking a English Setter dog from a breeder in Southampton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Southampton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Southampton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even English Setter breeders who help with English Setter rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Southampton paves the way for another one to be saved.
