My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NIcolai: 5 - 7 yr old male Silver Shaded Persian
Regular adoption fee: see below

This is not the kind of cat you expect to find bedraggled and half
dead at your door. Poor little guy. Thank goodness he finally looked
for help at the right house . The cat-loving mother and daughter who
lived there took him right off to the vet who said he was very
dehydrated, flea infested, starving and had probably been lost out
side for 5 to 6 months!! He had used up quite a number of his lives.
Over the next weeks they worked on him - diarrhea, fleas, goopy eyes,
parasites. They encouraged him to eat which you can see he ultimately
excelled at . He is a little plump thing now. Nice round fit -in -
your-hand tummy. The vet said he had had a tooth extracted carefully
and well and he felt this boy had had a loving and good home at one
time. How tantalizing not to know what happened. No, he was not
microchipped, unfortunately.

He loved his new humans, as little rescued silvers do, and he wanted
to stay with them forever. He tried, they said, to fit in.
Unfortunately the original 2 kitties in the household disagreed with
having this adorable little emperor move into their home. He would
ambush these senior boys as they slept and pounce on them saying
"Let's play! ".He wanted TONS of attention and they thought that
unmannerly. Then the daughter got married and moved out and could not
take him. Her mother needed peace in her home and the two older cats
were acting out with litterbox issues and little Nicolai needed to
find a home of his own. That will be no problem.

So he arrived to be my foster today, 5/ 20. I think he has the
hugest green eyes I have ever seen on a kitty. His mommy held him on
her shoulder for almost as hour as we talked. He loves shoulders and
laps. If you know silver a shaded persians , you know they tend to
be demanding little adorable creatures. "I want all your attention
and all the things I want right away when I say so.If you don't get
them for me I will complain out loud. I will love you more than
anyone ever has and you have to cuddle me back a lot . Don't thwart
me! I am the boss here." These are high maintenance cats, fragile,
and absolutely wonderful if you are looking for this extra close kind
of connection. Silvers have a following of well trained devoted
owners. They are not appropriate companions for folks who love cats
because they are "independent".

Often these cats are the only cat in the household. This guy really
seems to want a kitty playmate, or maybe a toy dog would be ok. So we
are looking for a home with a companion for him. He seems to be very
confident exploring new places, making new friends. His health is
great . He has two very small fatty cysts on his neck that the vet
checked and says are just fine, no worries. He had a couple others
that have already been reabsorbed. He loves dry food but can get
diarrhea with wet so we will experiment with it and see what agrees
with his tummy. We will try no corn first.

Oh by the way, I have not seen it yet but his owners say that when he
runs " he gallops ! " Very unusual and fun to watch . They say he
loves to run. slides all over with his feet on their wood floors. His
age estimate may be high. Kitty age estimates are generally based on
teeth for cats under ten and teeth and eyes for senior cats. Because
Persians have such prematurely dreadful teeth shelters and vets do
sometimes estimate their ages higher than they are. " Bad teeth
equals "must be older." I don't know in this case but he clearly acts
young.

He is neutered, current on his shots and will be microchipped .

Currently he has been given a summer lion cut. We do a have a few
photo's that show him in full coat before his shaded tips were cut off.

Someone will be so lucky to have his company.

HIs foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz
