Kingston's Story...

Hi! My name is Kingston. I am 10 months old and I need someone to love me forever and ever. The shelter I came from describes me as ... "he is perfect except he doesn't like cats." Did you catch that? They said "perfect." How 'bout them apples? I am great with other dogs and people. I used to be in the morning play group with multiple dogs at the shelter and had no problems at all. And, do you like to laugh? Cause I'm a riot and people laugh at my silliness all the time. I am lots of fun and super friendly and loving. I'm neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm tested. I am a loverboy, total sweetheart who just needs someone to love for life. I'm an active boy. I love to jog, go camping, play and be part of the family. Please give me a chance! Adoption fee: $75.

NOTE ABOUT BREED LABELING: Visual breed identification of dogs is unreliable and usually inaccurate. So, for most of our adoptable dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.

Why is labeling a dog such a big deal? A label will stick with a dog for the rest of its life. A label can mean discrimination, losing its home or even death. Labels are a problem for the dogs when we, as the local experts on animals, allow adopters, politicians and community members to think that the label we assign can predict who that dog is or will be.

Adoption Process:
Complete the application at the link above or send an email to info@pawsforliferescue.org to tell us which pet you're interested in and we'll send you a questionnaire that will help us make the best match for you and your new pet. We then arrange a location, date and time for you to meet some pets. If the meeting goes well and everyone is happy, you begin the mandatory, minimum two-week adjustment period with the pet as part of your family. You will pay the non-refundable adoption fee at the start of the two-week adjustment period. This pending period allows your new dog or cat time to adjust to their new home, new people, new routine, etc., and for you to decide if it's a match and the right pet for you. At the end of two weeks (some people extend the adjustment time as needed and that's fine too), if everyone is happy, then we finalize the adoption. Feel free to email if you have any questions.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kingston, a Troy Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) for sale in Troy, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
