Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Dozer is a 1 1/2 year old (born October 2010) fawn male with natural ears. Dozer is a silly, playful boy who was a little overweight when he first came into foster, but has slimmed down to roughly 150 pounds. He was surrendered for being 'too protective' of his mom with other members of the house, but he's had no such issues in foster care. At first, his foster home made sure that his foster dad did all his feeding and his foster mom would make sure to not be petting at the same time as foster dad, but these extra precautions have proved to really be unnecessary. He meets new people well and loves to get pets from anyone. He's really quite a happy pup who just needs some discipline-didn't really get much in previous home-but really responds well to 'enh-enh,' 'no,' and 'out' (like 'out of the kitchen'). He'll sit, give his paw, and knows 'go to your bed.' He does get 'rammy' occasionally (as to be expected with a dog his age) and he wants to jump up in the air and spin around, but, because he was/is kind of out of shape, he tuckers easily. Daily/every-other day 20 min walks knock this dog OUT! Dozer walks really well on a leash, especially for having never been walked before in his old home. He actually 'paces' when we get going, lifting both legs on the same side of his body at the same time-like a dressage horse! He does like to walk at the very end of the leash, with taunt pressure (working on this, too), but does not pull. He's walked with a front/chest-clipping Easy-Walk harness and he's great. Dozer is a bit of a counter surfer, so his foster's working on that, but nothing too terrible (he likes to try to lick plates clean, etc.). The only big issue with Dozer is he's a little territorial with the yard, and will bark at people walking near 'his fence' and try to jump up on it. His foster's front and back yards are fenced, so he can go right up to the sidewalk to bark at passers-by (which usually just scares people to cross the street). His foster is working with him on this, but in the right home this may not even be a problem. Or, he'll be a great guard dog! Dozer currently lives with two cats and lived with Chihuahuas in his prior home, he is still unknown with larger dogs. Haven't had the opportunity to really test him with them yet, especially as there aren't many other dogs getting walks in the neighborhood.
