Serena's Story...
Hey, I'm Serena---named for my solid, serene personality. Unfortunately those qualities don't show up in photos which is why I've seen dozens of spotted dogs, fluffy dogs and blue-eyed dogs come into the kennel and then get adopted while I'm still sitting here in all my plain brownness. But have you ever tried to keep a fluffy dog with lots of white clean? The are high maintenance. Take a nice short brown coat like mine and you have more time to play and romp and snuggle with me, and that's what I crave. I love people, especially men with all the trappings that dogs are often scared of---the boots, beards, sunglasses and ball caps---bring'em on cause that's what I like best.

I'm sturdy, stocky and have the build of a much bigger dog than I actually am. I can hike all day with you or sit in your lap to watch the sunset or wait contentedly at home for you. I'm not needy and can play by myself when you go out, but I'm always ready to comfort and love any human who crosses my path.

Even though I'm laid back, I get on the wrong side of other alpha female dogs, so I prefer a home with no other dogs or with closely controlled dog visitors. No one has tested me with cats yet or for my house manners, but if that's important to you I can spend a few days with a foster family.
