Danny's Story...

Say HI to DANNY. DANNY'S start here at FMAR was a bit rough but things appear to be looking up for this resilient little guy. He came to us as a kitten and it was soon apparent he had some major tummy issues. Through-out all the tests, medicine and food trials, DANNY has remain a sweet and playful cat that loves everyone even the ones who had to bathe him frequently. He holds no grudges! We believe he has a cat form of irritable bowel syndrome that seems to be correctable with a special high-fiber diet. Aside from his delicate condition, DANNY is a typical young cat that loves to play the day away when he’s not napping that is. Petting his super soft fur is an excellent stress reducer and he will gladly let you as he comfortably naps on your lap. His unique multi-colored upper body coloring is enhanced nicely by his white underbelly and paws and you’ll absolutely love his little raccoon-masked face. Don’t let DANNY'S condition stop you from meeting him because once you do we are sure you’ll love him tummy issues and all. DANNY is neutered, vaccinated, tested neg. for FeLuk/FIV and micro-chipped. About Friends of Michigan Animal Rescue

About Our Shelter...

FMAR is a non-profit 501(c)3 rescue for dogs and cats that started in April 2003 with the help and support of hundreds of wonderful people. Our mission is to protect animals and residents by promoting a healthy and safe enviornment for all. FMAR felt we needed to start in our own community helping our Animal Control facility find homes for the strays they pick up or are brought to them. On a rare occassion when we have extra space we do our best to help out neighboring communities too. We started in the family room of our home, adding kennels under and on the pool table and moving to the dining and livingroom. We grew by leaps and bounds, so we sold our home, bought a 61/2 acre farm and renovated the smaller of the 2 barns with 9 dog kennels and 5 unique cat kennels. Our first renovation allowed us to house a larger number of cats and dogs, but the need grew faster than our space would allow. We are amazed and saddened every day by the abundance of homeless pets and hoped to raise enough money to renovate our larger barn, but the need became so great we knew we had to find something smaller that we could better afford to renovate. We added on again but the space was still not enough. We found someone to donate another barn and had this barn moved to our property and renovated it as our new "Cat Haven".
Please visit our website at for more details on our growth and progress. We promise the best is yet to come!!

Our Adoption Process...

FMAR is an no-kill 501 C 3 tax-exempt all breed rescue, and like you, we are concerned about the welfare of the animals and the families that adopt them. We will require paperwork to be filled out and a consultation before an animal is adopted. Interaction with any other animals in your care is also required. We reserve the right to deny any adoption that we feel is not safe or comfortable for either the animal or potential adopter.
Our adoption costs vary, and include first set of vaccinations and spay/neuter. Cats and kittens start at $75 and dogs and puppies range from $100 - $175 depending on age, size and breed. We also offer micro chips at a very reasonable rate. For more information please send us an email at:
