Danny -- used to man's Story...
Danny and Angel were rescued as kittens when their mother was hit by a car. They have been in the same home for six years. They are accustomed to regular nail trimmings and exceptionally good about having their paws handled (amazing!). Danny is only about 10 pounds and, except for a few hairs, solid black with a soft, lovely fur coat. Part of their socialization includes occasional baths, probably because there are two solid white cats in their family.
Danny is the shy one of the pair, but if adopted together, he is expected to show up for meals and generally be around, though not as excited about meeting guests as Angel is. Angel has always looked after Danny. He was fine with the vet and me.
Their owner is looking at a year of repeated hospitalizations for a complicated procedure(s). He believes he has placements for all but these two black cats. Whenever potential helpers learn they are black and a pair, they just turn away.
SOS Kitty is inspired to help with rehoming these two cats becuase they are amazingly well-socialized. Though I was told Danny was the problem, four of the five cats in this household stayed in the living room when I came to their home. They were more interested in my purse than in me (normal), but let me pet them even though I was a stranger who just walked in without food or treats or pheramones. Danny left the room, but I saw him first and he didn't run away in terror. He isn't expected to be social with outsiders, but I expect him to show up with family members within a few weeks.
Both cats tested negative for FeLV/FIV Saturday 6/2. Each received a distemper vaccination at the same time.
