My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sookie had a rough start in life and has been bounced around relentlessly and pushed to her mental limits by being in chaotic households with a number of cats and dogs, though she is very intolerant and afraid of other animals.

At around 4 weeks of age, she and two littermates were heard mewing in a garbage can in a rough part of Petersburg on a 96-degree day, very undernourished. They were bottle fed until they graduated to regular food.

Unfortunately, Sookie’s brother Topper died in just a few weeks in his sleep for no apparent reason. Sookie, who had been kept by her foster, came back to us because she could not overcome her terror of dogs; then the family missed her so much, they took her back. Unfortunately, the situation didn’t change for her, and she was given away to another family, who after nearly two years, returned her to the original foster.

The foster was happy to have Sookie back but still had many cats and a very, very busy household, so Sookie began to overgroom herself and was too scared to use the litterbox. The foster arranged to return Sookie to us 2 times but had a change of heart each time; they even put her on “kitty Prozac” from their vet, but Sookie was still being terrorized by the family cats. She’s still kittenish and cute, but she needs a good adoption as an only pet where she can be treated like a furry little princess and leave her stress and fear behind. She was dearly, dearly loved by the teenage girl of the household, so she would enjoy that situation again. She's just SO sweet and affectionate, she deserves a happy life!
