My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buddy was recently adopted by a wonderful family and, although he gets along with the other Italian Greyhounds in the home, he is constantly bothering the family's five-pound poodle (he is neutered, she is spayed). The poodle is becoming depressed and there is concern, due to her tiny size, that she could be hurt. The family has not been able to curb Buddy's behavior and feel it is best to re-home him.

This handsome, gentle boy is housetrained, but if not taken out on a schedule, he will have accidents - he will bark when he needs to go out though. He walks nicely on leash, but will pull if a dog, cat, or squirrel is seen. (Regarding cats and squirrels, this can be addressed by teaching a "no chase" cue and using really yummy treats. Treats can also be used to teach Buddy to ignore other dogs unless you, not he, decide to greet them. In the latter case, he needs to learn to remain calm upon approaching and greeting the other dog, so as not to pull on leash - not pulling gets him to the dog, pulling causes you, and him, to turn away.) Buddy is not much of a barker, only barking to alert that someone has approached the door, or if other animals are seen while walking - he can't bark if eating a yummy treat, and can learn to associate a sighting with something tasty. This very sweet, twenty-three pound boy has a moderate energy level, is good traveling by car, and, when left alone, is content to stay in a designated room or area. Buddy loves to receive attention and tends to be attentive to human requests.
