Doc's Story...
Hello, Hello, Hello!!! Thank-you for clicking on my picture and stopping by to visit! I LOVE meeting new people! They always have great treats, pet me gently, and compliment me on how handsome I look - who wouldn't love that!?! Please let me share a little bit of information about myself so that we can get to know each other better.

My name is Doc and I am a 3 year old Jack Russel / Chihuahua mixed male who is super tiny (only 9 lbs) and very sweet and playful! I came to the Lapeer County Animal Shelter as a stray when the wonderful people at NBS Animal Rescue came and saved me and gave me a second chance at a wonderful life. I'm now in a wonderful, warm, loving foster home where I'm learning the ropes and enjoying getting some much needed TLC.

My foster mom says that I am a playful, fun loving fella who just wants to have a good time! I love to romp in the fenced back yard - I get along well with other dogs and enjoy playing with them, and I love exploring and going for walks. My foster dad says that I am a good snuggler as well as I like to be picked up and pet gently. I'm not a crazy hyper fella, but I do enjoy exploring in the backyard, a good romp around the yard with my foster siblings, and I'm starting to like these things called toys. They sqeak and make noises and they are super fun to play with - I don't know if I've ever seen them before - but I'm getting used to them quickly!

My foster mom says that I am working on the concept of house training - I really do want to please her, it's just that it's a new environment and I'm not sure of where I'm supposed to go yet. My foster dad says that I'm a quick learner though and with consistency and patience I'll be a whizzing champ in no time. =)

If you think that I might be the perfect addition to your family, please contact the awesome volunteers at N.B.S. Animal Rescue at nbsanimalrescue@gmail.com for information or answers to any questions you might have. You can fill out a simple online adoption application at www.nbsanimalrescue.com and we will start processing your application right away! We do require that persons interested in meeting me apply online and be approved as an adopter first so please visit our website and submit your application today!

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, De-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine, heartworm test, heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and will fill out an adoption application right away, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family. Would you please help me by sharing my picture and information on your Facebook page, or e-mail to your friends and family members? I'm a great pup and I really deserve a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Doc, a Troy Chihuahua/Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Maltese for sale in Troy, or seeking a Chihuahua/Maltese dog from a breeder in Troy.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Troy already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Troy breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Maltese breeders who help with Chihuahua/Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Troy paves the way for another one to be saved.
