Rusty is most likely a Lurcher and not a full-blooded Greyhound. Lurchers often compete with Greyhounds in lure coursing – we’ve placed a couple of them in wonderful homes. Three vets have said he is full Greyhound, one vet said he doesn’t look Greyhound at all, and one of the breeders we get dogs from says he’s probably 50-75% Greyhound, but he has no clue what the rest might be.
We fondly refer to Rusty as a landshark. In typical puppy fashion he is into everything. An hour after coming to my house he had chewed the end off my phone charger. He has chewed shoes, toys, CD’s, you name it. Last night he chewed the end off my printer cable!! If you don’t want it chewed, don’t leave it down at Rusty level!!
Rusty is not housebroken, and we’ve brought puppy diapers for him. He will use the puppy pads if you put them out.
Rusty barks – a lot! He loves to play and will antagonize the other dogs to make them chase him. Then he cries like a baby! He’s very attached to Jezebelle – when he’s upset or tired, he will look for her and often sleeps on her bed with her.
Our mantra with Rusty is “You’re lucky you’re cute!” Have fun – enjoy him!!

As a 501(C)(3) all volunteer organization, our mission at FastDogs-FastFriends: Greyhound Adoption is to place these wonderful hounds into safe, loving homes. Whether they are retired directly from a track (some physically and/or emotionally injured), a greyhound placed at Rabies Animal Control or any other facility, or perhaps someone's pet who, for whatever reason, must be surrendered, makes no difference to us. Once they come into the FastDogs family, every dog receives loving care. Their medical needs (including spay/neuter and vaccinations) are tended to, and they remain with us until an appropriate home is found - however long it takes.
We setup monthly meet and greets at the prison
