My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MARS AND ISIS, 3 Month Old Male and Female FeLV+ Marbled Bengals.
Special Needs Kittens
Regular adoption fee: see below

COURTESY POST
Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue is helping facilitate the adoption of these cats. We take no responsibility for health or medical records of this cat. It is the responsibility of the owner and adopter to discuss this.

Mars (smaller male brother) and Isis (larger female sister) are beautiful purebred Bengal kittens and must go to their new home together. Are you the right owner for these 2 kittens? Consider that the Bengal cat has different personality traits than your average house cat. They are extremely intelligent and can be very demanding if they don't get what they want. They are also very vocal and can impersonate what you do. They are very loving and playful. Bengals are not meant for every cat owner, so think before attempting to adopt this pair. Added to the Bengal personality, Mars and Isis have a special needs problem. They have tested positive for the FELV virus. So what does this mean? It means Mars and Isis need a very special home and family with no other cats. It means they may test FELV negative in about 6 months. It also means that they may be FELV positive forever and have a limited life expectancy. If you are thinking that you are willing to give Mars and Isis the loving home that they so deserve, then read below and follow the link to the UC Davis Shelter Medicine site.

Feline Leukemia (FeLV) is a contagious viral disease, which causes not only leukemia in a cat, but has been linked to other types of cancer and other disease caused by suppressed autoimmune response in cats. Feline Leukemia is not contagious to humans and there has been no evidence to support its transmission to other species. Younger cats and kittens are thought to be more susceptible to the virus. Kittens that test positive for leukemia may, within a 6 month period, clear the virus (having inherited antibodies from the mother cat) and may test negative during this time. Adult cats that test positive are considered to be permanently infected and thus, contagious. More information about Feline Leukemia can be found at UC Davis Shelter Medicine Portal.

Mars and Isis have had their first kitten vaccine and are wormed. They will need further kitten series vaccines and in 3-4 months will need to be altered. They are not in a Purebreds Plus Cat Rescue foster home but residing with their owner, in Santa Cruz, who is placing them. If you would like more information, please call Karen at 707-301-6425 or by email at k.pahler@comcast.net. Adoption fee applies.
