River (3.05kg) was one of approximately 18 rabbits surrendered to a shelter that was unable to accommodate them. After a long, two days of travelling, He arrived at New Moon Rabbit Rescue on 5 June 2012.
River is a wonderful, friendly bunny. He is a great hay eater and loves his treats, even running to get treats when you make little kissy noises to him. River loves attention and loves being pet. He is a very friendly, laid back and very social bunny that would love to be with you whenever possible.
When he is at New Moon adoption events River loves showing off his talents by throwing all the papers and pamphlets he can find. Of course, if he can’t throw them, he will chew them up and make sure he has all the attention in the room!! River loves chewing on apple branches and loves his toys very much!
River is very much looking forward to having a family of his own… soon.
Rescue Group Info...
New Moon Rabbit Rescue was formed in September 2006 with one main goal: to provide unwanted, abandoned, neglected, or abused domestic rabbits with a second chance at human love and appropriate care.
We are a "no-kill" organization dedicated to providing care for rescued domestic rabbits. All rabbits remain in foster homes until such time as they are adopted to loving, caring homes.
All of New Moon's rabbits are in foster care at this time. If you are interested in meeting a particular rabbit you must fill out an adoption application. Upon approval a meeting with the foster home will be arranged.
All rabbits that come into the care of New Moon Rabbit Rescue are spayed or neutered, health checked and if necessary, fully rehabilitated before adoption. Potential adopters are thoroughly screened to ensure that the rabbits will be entering safe and happy environments.
Every potential adopter must fill out an application, either online or by printing and filling out the PDF document. It can be faxed to 613-489-0487. You will receive a phone call within a few days to discuss your application. Please review our adoption contract, which you will required to sign upon picking up your new rabbit. Please note that all adopters must be approved before visiting the rabbits.
Our adoption policies state that we do not adopt to children, however we do adopt to families with children in which children may aid parents in caring for the rabbit. New Moon rabbits are adopted out as house pets only and are not to be housed outdoors. There will be NO exceptions to either of these strict policies.
Our adoption fees are $85 for a single rabbit and $130 for an already bonded pair. All adoption fees are non-refundable, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting the rabbits of New Moon. We are wiling to adopt outside of our area, but you must be willing to pick up your new friend.
We serve Ottawa, Ontario and the surrounding areas of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. We have on occasion adopted as far away as the US. All adopters must be willing to pick up their new friend(s)
