Tracy's Story...
Tracy (1.65kg) came to New Moon Rabbit Rescue on 5 June 2012 when her time ran out at a high volume shelter in Southern Ontario.

Tracy might be a petite girl, only weighing 1.65kg, but you would never guess from the size of her personality. Tracy is curious, active, bold, confident and a very people-oriented bunny. She acts just like a spoiled puppy, following you around and then hopping off to explore, toss toys and binky like a little clown.

Tracy is an independent lady and has shown aggression to most other rabbits she has met (at her foster home and at Adoption Events). Unless her ideal man comes along, she would much prefer to be a single bunny with the love and attention of her human family and maybe even a dog friend to play with!

Tracy is immaculate in her litter training, and will even rip up paper to place in her litter box before she goes if she decides that her litter is past due to be changed. She is somewhat particular about how long she is held, but really enjoys sitting on your lap and getting pets during quiet times

She LOVES her greens. Her favorites remain to be romaine lettuce, fresh parsley, celery and small amounts of cucumber, as well as the occasional piece of an apple, carrot tops, or strawberry tops. She loves to interact with toys, but toys that jingle or make noise when she tosses them seem to be her favourite. Tracy needs her hay to be given to her in smaller amounts more frequently each day or she'll just leave most of it.

Tracy would make anyone a very lovely companion and would be sure to introduce to new rabbit owners how beautiful and bold bunnies can be!

Rescue Group Info...

About Our Rescue Group...
New Moon Rabbit Rescue was formed in September 2006 with one main goal: to provide unwanted, abandoned, neglected, or abused domestic rabbits with a second chance at human love and appropriate care.

We are a "no-kill" organization dedicated to providing care for rescued domestic rabbits. All rabbits remain in foster homes until such time as they are adopted to loving, caring homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...
All of New Moon's rabbits are in foster care at this time. If you are interested in meeting a particular rabbit you must fill out an adoption application. Upon approval a meeting with the foster home will be arranged.
Our Adoption Process...
All rabbits that come into the care of New Moon Rabbit Rescue are spayed or neutered, health checked and if necessary, fully rehabilitated before adoption. Potential adopters are thoroughly screened to ensure that the rabbits will be entering safe and happy environments.

Every potential adopter must fill out an application, either online or by printing and filling out the PDF document. It can be faxed to 613-489-0487. You will receive a phone call within a few days to discuss your application. Please review our adoption contract, which you will required to sign upon picking up your new rabbit. Please note that all adopters must be approved before visiting the rabbits.

Our adoption policies state that we do not adopt to children, however we do adopt to families with children in which children may aid parents in caring for the rabbit. New Moon rabbits are adopted out as house pets only and are not to be housed outdoors. There will be NO exceptions to either of these strict policies.

Our adoption fees are $85 for a single rabbit and $130 for an already bonded pair. All adoption fees are non-refundable, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting the rabbits of New Moon. We are wiling to adopt outside of our area, but you must be willing to pick up your new friend.

We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
We serve Ottawa, Ontario and the surrounding areas of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. We have on occasion adopted as far away as the US. All adopters must be willing to pick up their new friend(s)

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tracy, a North Gower Britannia Petite was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Britannia Petite for sale in North Gower, or seeking a Britannia Petite from a breeder in North Gower.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in North Gower already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a North Gower breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Britannia Petite breeders who help with Britannia Petite rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in North Gower paves the way for another one to be saved.
